Ellen Reinke

Raised on a farm in central Indiana, Ellen finds herself drawn back to those times as inspiration for her art. That Hoosier heritage is reflected in many of her landscapes and barn scenes. An early interest in art and encourage from her high school art instructor has led to a lifelong love affair with brush and pallet. She took time to pursue a career and raise a family. Now returning to her art has brought focus and fun to her early retirement from the business world.
Ellen has completed correspondence courses with Famous Arts School and attended several classes at the Broad Ripple Art Center in Indianapolis. She has recently taken classes with Janet King in Sebring, Florida, and at the Caladium Art Center in Lake Placid, Florida. In 2004 and 2005, she attended a series of art workshops developed and taught by Joseph Fettingis to strengthen her skills with watercolors.
Ellen’s works have been displayed at the 2004 Crawfordsville Indiana Art Show the Back-to-the-Fifties Festival in Lebanon, Indiana and International Gallery Inc. She has participated in the Lake Placid County Fair and won Fine Arts Champion and Reserve Champion at the 2003 Boone County 4-H Fair. Her work can be seen at Framed Wright Art Gallery and Stookey’s Restaurant in Thorntown, Indiana. Two of her paintings were selected for inclusion in the 2005 Thorntown community calendar.

Ellen has taught classes in oils, acrylics, and watercolor. She has discovered digital photography as a tool for gathering inspiration for projects. Whatever the medium, this artist has continued to create pieces that reflect her love for Hoosier farmland, her early hands-on experiences with farm life, and her strong kinship with nature.
