Creatif at the Art Center

Creatif is a group of artists, all from Montgomery County, Indiana, whose common goal is to think, talk and work to continually improve their art. Each artist in this group contributes knowledge, encouragement, resources and friendship to the entire group. They get together each week throughout the year to work on whatever piece each has on their own personal easel: oil on canvas, watercolor, pencil and colored pencil drawings, pastels and acrylic paintings. On one day an artists might choose to demonstrate a new technique learned and the next time one of the other artists in the group might share an interesting article they have read about their special medium of art and how it has impacted their way of painting. From the beginning of their group they have strived to encourage each other to try and develop new medium, explore new techniques and to push themselves “outside of their comfort zone”. Their goal is to become better artists and find new and exciting ways of expressing their artistic talents. Each artist seeks out his or her own opportunities to show his/her work, and support other group members’ and their successes. The Creatif Art Group was formed to exhibit their work as a collection of Indiana artists.

This exciting exhibit will be on display in the Main Gallery of Sugar Creek Art Center beginning September 5, 2014 and will run through October 30, 2014. The reception honoring this creative group will be held on Friday September 12th from 6:30 to 8:00 at the Art Center. Please take time to come out and show your support of this wonderful group of Hoosier artists and enjoy an evening of friendship and socialization. Light refreshments will be served and there is no cost for this event.

There will also be a grand opening of our newly designed “Book Nook” area on the second floor and Boone County author, David Randel, will be present the evening of Sept. 12, 2014 to introduce his newly written book and sign copies for the public. Please come and show your support to Mr. Randel and enjoy hearing about his new book.
