Grab a friend or family member and enjoy the relaxed social atmosphere of SCAC! We offer adult, family and children’s classes/ workshops. Our accomplished art instructors will guide each participant along a creative path as they explore new art mediums and creative ideas. Display your art class projects in our beautiful facility. We look forward to sharing your success! The following lessons can be arranged at $75 per three- hour period. Maize by James HubbardLinocut Relief Block Print Editions
Saturdays, 1:00-4:00 pm or prearranged days / Age 16+, No prior experience necessary
Adult participants will carve a unique image of any subject into Wonder-cut, ink and transfer multiple images onto mulberry paper using an etching press or spoon. Emphasis is placed on quality of carved line, positive & negative shapes and unique composition. We will explore small prints using soy inks. The instructor guides each student through the process, sharing the tools and materials necessary for success. Participants will trade prints on the last day. The finished products can be used as greeting cards or framed work.

Multi-Media ArtHUBBARD_Multi-media
Saturdays, 1:00- 4:00 pm or prearranged days / Age 16+; No prior experience necessary
Adult participants explore the possibilities of combining media: watercolor resist, papier collage, collagraph, stamping, dye transfer and linocut printing techniques. Emphasis is placed on experimentation and discovery, creating elements of an image that when placed together engage the viewer in a larger fantasy image. The instructor guides each student through each process, sharing the tools and materials necessary for success.

HUBBARD_Etching B & W Copper Etchings
Saturdays, 1:00- 4:00 pm or prearranged days / Age 16+; No prior experience necessary
Adult participants will learn the process of copper plate etching, an intaglio technique, using hard & soft ground resist and ferric chloride. Emphasis is placed on experimentation, quality of line impression, and standard printing of multiples using oil based etching inks, solvents and an etching press. The finished products can be used as greeting cards or framed work.
