Gayla Schuett November 5th - 28th, 2009

Watercolors by Gayla Schuett, an artist from Villa Grove, Illinois, on exhibit at the Sugar Creek Art Center beginning Nov 5th thru Nov 28th ,2009.

Gayla’s love for art began as a child with basic drawing and painting. She later studied watercolor with renowned artist Joseph Fettingis, and acquired an immediate addiction to this medium. She has been working in watercolor for over 20 years. She is very passionate about her watercolors and her intention is to export that passion to the viewer.

Gayla Schuett focuses on the genres of figurative and narrative works that create wonderfully rendered images of everyday life. She is noted for her ability to capture the play of light and texture in her paintings. Her figurative compositions focus primarily on children, with an emphasis on capturing the fleeting emotions of delight and wonderment that all children express.

The Illinois artist has created two book cover illustrations for local authors, and won regional awards in juried shows. She has also completed multiple commissioned portraits. Her works are in several private and corporate art collections.

The opening reception for Gayla’s works will be Nov. 13, 2009 at the “Culture at the Creek” event at the Sugar Creek Art Center at 127 S. Pearl St. in Thorntown, IN. Gayla has a variety of original art in this exhibit priced very reasonably to suit any art connoisseur. Please come take a look and, just maybe, pick up an early Christmas gift while here.
